About NLTH

Hi, I’m KiKi Bush, a 22 year old who has a not-so-secret obsession with interiors, home design and everything that makes a house lovely!

North Leads To Home began in October 2012 when I decided to put my interest (and degree!) in creative writing and my life long enchantment with interior design together. Since October, this little blog has grown thanks to the wonderful blogging community and my participation in Holly Becker’s Blogging Your Way: Blog Boss course.

Three years ago I moved North from my home with my parents in London to go to university in Birmingham. I studied an English with Creative Writing BA, and finished with a 2.1 overall and a first in my dissertation. I’ve loved it so much in Birmingham that I’m staying here for another year!

While completing my BA degree I took a home study Diploma in Professional Interior Design at the National Design Academy. I shared my experience of the course on my blog, as well as some of my assignments if you would like to have a peek at it.

Right now, I’m studying for an Online Journalism MA at Birmingham City University. I I’ve recently moved with my best friends to live in a rented maisonette flat, which we’re still in the process of decorating!

When I’m not blogging for North Leads To Home, I also write for Eastside, a blog for the community living and working in the new Eastside development in Birmingham. I’m also an intern at Period Living magazine, a beautiful publication centred around period homes and decor.

I’d like to say a huge thank you to Ali White, my Creative Marketing Consultant. She’s done an amazing job helping to continually evolve North Leads To Home and helping make the first issue of Chatoyant emagazine, a lifestyle emagazine by NLTH, come to be.

North Leads To Home will be trialled as a lifestyle blog, featuring posts on travel, wonderful things in Birmingham, eco living and of course interiors, home decor and my own flat.

I hope you enjoy reading North Leads To Home as much as I enjoy writing it.

  1. I’m a HUGE fan of upcycling!! HUGE!! Sometimes when I see vintage pieces that have been given a new lease of (upcycled) life I just want to hug them. Yes, I’m publicly admitting to wanting to hug chairs n stuff! :)

  2. Hi, thanks for checking out my blog =) I’m in a somewhat related situation, working in an unrelated area to interior design despite huge interest. But I’m also thinking about doing courses, may I ask what home study course you’re doing and whether you like it?

  3. I just stumbled across your blog I love it! definitely same interests with interior design Im studying my diploma in it now and decorating my rental too! although it seems a little less restricted here in Australia I am always putting up new pics on my wall.

    Steph :)
