Lovely Locals: The Fighting Cocks pub, Moseley

There are so many beautiful local restaurants, bars and cafes near me I couldn’t resist sharing them with you! So, let me introduce The Fighting Cocks, a wonderful pub situated in Moseley, Birmingham. The Fighting Cocks sells delectable food and drinks with a really wonderful atmosphere. The decor is stunning and well worth a peek too…

The Fighting Cocks is a Grade II listed building, and it has all the quirks you would expect of a period structure. Built in the 1899, the building hasn’t lost any of its charm. The barometer on the exterior of the building is a lovely touch and makes me smile every time I visit!

The menu is lovely and is definitely interesting from a graphic design point of view. I love the logo and retro banner – and all the yummy things inside! The Fighting Cocks sells cocktails, and one makes the perfect treat every now and then.

Although it’s a rubbish iPhone picture, above is an amazing chandelier and original ceiling at the entrance of the pub. This chandelier gives the whole room a ‘Great Gatsby‘ feel, and takes this space from being a bit quirky to very grand – once you look up! The walls and ceiling are tiled in green, and they add to the period feel.

The dining area is a fantastic mish-mash of mismatched chairs and worn tables with a lot of character. Whoever designed this space really went for an eclectic look and has pulled it off perfectly. The decor isn’t too overwhelming and creates a relaxed, effortlessly comfortable space for The Fighting Cocks’ customers.

Simple touches such as the gold mirrors and frames, bright cushions and vibrant upholstery on the stools and sofas bring colour to the area. This section of the pub, unlike the grand entrance hall, is a lot more cosy in it’s period vibe. The white and dark blue walls help to make this space feel more personal and inviting, as does the eclectic feel of all the decor here – which is perfect for a pub with an upmarket vibe.

The Fighting Cocks is a lovely place to unwind with a meal and a drink or two. If you’re ever in the area this little pub is well worth a visit.

Ps; I love fireplace, don’t you?
